Summary
​As Concept Artist for Grey Goo video game, I helped shape the Human faction look and feel in collaboration with the legendary Weta Digital artists! My contributions spanned from establishing mood boards, character studies to production concept art for the faction vehicles, buildings and more.
Human Faction Buildings Exploration
During the early phase of concept art, our studio was collaborating with Weta artists in coming up with the style guide for this IP. We exchanged ideas weekly and share our design to influence each other. I also started to explore what the tech, world of Human faction looks like. The story provided some guidance that the Human faction has evolved way far in the future, so their tech is almost alien like to our current time.

Human Faction Units Exploration
Usually, I don't like to include thumbnails, but these are just too much fun not to share. I get to explore shapes and silhouettes for each unit to capture the right expression for each role.
We continued to refine the style of the units from 2D to 3D, greyscale to colors. Since this is a RTS game, isometric view is critical to ensure each unit look distinct from each other. That is the angle of camera view for player.
Here are some of the finished renders for the Human faction vehicles. I modelled these using 3D Max, rendered them in Keyshot with final paint over in Photoshop.​
